Materials Design & Technology

Design in Wood

You will be: 

Working with timber.
Learning how to use hand tools, power tools and machines.
Instructed on the basics of design, drawing up your own ideas and learning how to organize materials in order to begin a project
Complete an elective project.  Project ideas range from small toys and puzzles to larger furniture pieces.
 
 

 

Automotive

There are 3 different courses on offer all providing a wide range of experiences.  Please consult the handbook for detailed information on Automotive.  Here is a brief outline:

Restoring a motor vehicle (Automotive Design)
Learning about engines and servicing these systems (Automotive Technology)
Maintenance and repair of your own vehicle (Automotive)

 

Design Graphics

You will be: 

Developing skills in drawing and design
Working with computer aided design programs
Experimenting with free hand sketching
Producing major projects in fields of your choice.

 

Computer Graphics & Design

You will be: 

Learning about computer equipment and computer graphic processes
Developing skills in animation
Working with 3D Studio Max
Producing a folio of drawings and completing a major project in 2D/3D design
 

 

Board Making

 

Design in Metal

You will be: 

Learning the theory of board design
Working with simple hand tools and learning  how to work with a variety of materials
Designing and making your own surfboard, sailboard, snowboard, wave-ski, water-skis, knee board, kayak, canoe or skateboard.
 

You will be: 

Learning how to work with metal
Creating small set projects and larger extended projects
Working with design problems
Working with metalworking equipment
