Tasmanian Investigations
 |
excursions into the local community;

choice of areas of interest to study e.g. the
history, environment or lifestyle of a locality;

to develop stories about people and their connections to the wider world.

Young
People and Issues in Society

looks at current issues in society such as
abortion, euthanasia, prostitution, smoking, cloning, gay marriages, IVF,
terrorism; |

the focus is mainly legal but also some political,
historical and social views; |

individual and
group research, presentations and some excursions.

Geography
Australia in Asia and the Pacific
 |
applies the methods of two subjects like
Geography, Economics, Tourism and Religious Studies to the study of
Australia and
its nearest neighbours; |

studies one contemporary
issue like migration or aid within the region by means of student research. |
Modern
World - has
three main areas of study:

the causes of conflicts and how they have been
resolved; |
 |
revolutions
and/or dictatorships; |
 |
struggles for
independence and the use of terrorism and/or diplomacy in this. |
Australian Studies
 |
through a study of historical forces that have
shaped modern
Australia,
students examine Australian culture and current issues facing
Australia such as land rights,
refugees and republicanism |
Studies in Religion covers
 |
two of the major world
religions |
 |
contemporary religious
issues such as why evil exists and how to prove the existence of god; |
Ancient
Civilizations
 |
examines
the lives, beliefs and activities of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans;
investigates
archaeology and written sources in ancient civilisations.
develops
an understanding of how our present history has been shaped by the ancient
past;

studies themes such
as religion art and literature, social life and history & politics in
relation to the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Roman; |

involves research on a topic of your choice. |
